Varvaglione 1921 Malvasia Bianca The Public’s Choice on MSC Cruise Line

Varvaglione Sweeps the Competition

The wine lists of all the ships of the MSC Cruise Lines will now feature Varvaglione 1921’s 12eMezzo Malvasia Bianca. The choice was made by popular demand, as travelers were asked to vote during a week-long cruise showcasing wineries selected by Gambero Rosso International. Between visits to cultural sites in European capitals, guests aboard the ship could taste the wines at guided tastings.

Wine & Sea is the onboard contest run for the second time this year by Gambero Rosso International. And there, sailing through the blue waters of the Mediterranean aboard the MSC Grandiosa, Varvaglione 1921’s 12eMezzo Malvasia Bianca won the first prize of the public’s choice.

More than 6,000 guests on the ship were able to taste the wines proposed by Gambero Rosso. And their preference was clear: the Malvasia Bianca from the 12eMezzo collection enchanted the public’s palate.

During the three tastings, the Puglia-based winery pulled into the lead ahead of the other 24 cellars, which represented all of Italy in particular Campania, Sicily, Lazio, Veneto, Piedmont, Abruzzo and Puglia.

Varvaglione’s flagship wine, Papale Oro, also ranked well, coming in third among the red wines.

A great result for the Varvaglione 1921 team, which was also onboard, that returned to Puglia with this important recognition. A prize and a symbol marking the quality work that is done in the vineyards and in the cellar.
